Saint Laurent Takes The Swinging 60s to The Desert

You can leave it to Anthony Vaccarello to bewilder your senses with a sweet escape! The creative director behind French maison Saint Laurent set his summer collection show in the desert as a nod to Yves Saint Laurent’s love of Moroccan landscapes and all things wanderlust. Although we're not sure where the exact location is, the desert voyage is all we need with the turmoil this year has brought us - and as Vaccarello puts it, “I wish you were there”. With bodacious sand dunes and ever so elegant Saint Laurent silhouettes, the show unveils “the essence of things” and we're talking thick 60s jersey, tunics, long jackets with tidy shoulders and other eternally chic looks.

"I wanted to focus on the essence of things. I think it’s a sign of the times. But I didn’t want anything bleak or heavy. The desert, to me, symbolizes that yearn for serenity, open space, a slower rhythm. The clothes are also softer, the spirit of the collection is more gentle, stripped back,” says Vaccarello on the collection.
