Dubai Fitness Challenge 2020: A Special Focus On At-Home Sessions

Whether it’s hard-hitting circuit training, dance workouts and HIIT, or something more zen like yoga, meditation or pilates, the virtual sessions are doable wherever you are, whenever you can.

Coronavirus has boosted interest in online workouts, which have proved to be an effective way to keep fit while social distancing. Recognising the importance of offering a virtual support network while encouraging Dubai’s residents and visitors to commit to 30 minutes of activity for 30 days, the organisers of Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2020 have teamed up with global industry leaders to bring inspirational virtual fitness and health content directly into homes. The studio-style sessions make it possible for everyone to safely sweat out the stress and start a holistic fitness and wellness journey at any suitable time, wherever they are.

Here are the three virtual ways the fourth edition of DFC, which ends on November 28, is helping people adopt an active and healthier lifestyle:

A Virtual Hub

The Find Your 30 virtual hub, presented by global fitness leader Fitbit, is a free-to-access, one-stop portal on the DFC website. And through the convenient and flexible centre, you can find a wide range of easily accessible and inspirational top fitness content. People of all ages and abilities can tailor their fitness regimes throughout the challenge. Daily live classes from Studio TV, including yoga, HIIT, core strength, barre and pilates, are new to the content hub this year. Plus, there are online workout videos created by Find Fit People exclusively for DFC (HIIT, barre, pilates and yoga), as well as two 90-minute videos from Expo 2020 (HIIT and yoga). Exercise programmes and discipline challenges from Fitbit, Puma and Sworkit have also been curated to conveniently fit any schedule, in addition to healthy recipes from KCal, Farmbox and Spinneys. Users will find mindfulness and meditation sessions, vlogs, podcasts from Deezer and Anghami, articles, educational videos for children and much more from leading experts too.

Family Fun

Whether it’s a solo effort or it turns into a family affair, kids can also escape the monotony of a repetitive routine and burn some energy with custom workout content. PJ Masks has created four exclusive workout videos with catchy and fun themed songs, and a new episode of the energetic and challenging videos is being released each week throughout DFC. Youngsters can also explore the fun workouts with their favourite characters from IMG World of Adventures. Whether the activity is with the PowerPuff Girls, Fin & Jake, dinosaurs in Lost Valley or IMG Bear, 30 minutes of fun moves, twists and shakes are for the taking. Additionally, the “Born To Move” workouts in Les Mills on Demand are a great tool to support schools in keeping kids moving at home. The confidence-boosting series, which helps children develop skill via stealth, simple moves, stories, games, problem solving and music, encourages children to feel successful and have fun. Another exciting option is this year’s edition of FIFA21, which features Dubai as the final location in the game’s story mode called VOLTA, and as a playable pitch in the game’s five-aside mode. This FIFA workout has drills and tricks created by Kotaro Tokuda, the youngest freestyle football champion. And Motiongate™ gets kids flexing their muscles with The Smurfs. Powered by Fitness First, the full song routine with instructional step by step video for easy learning gets them dancing with Papa Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Smurfette and Vanity Smurf.

Free Access to Top International Apps

Challenge enthusiasts can now log in to leading global fitness apps Fitbit Premium, Daily Burn, FIIT, Les Mills on Demand, NEOU, Steppi, Sweat and Sworkit for free, giving them more reasons to stay motivated throughout DFC. It’s possible to choose from a wide selection of premium fitness content and free diverse workouts shaped by world-class trainers and instructors, helping users turn up the pace in any space. From video workout programmes, step-counting and mapped running routes, to bodyweight workouts, yoga, meditation, HIIT, core and strength sessions, a favourite fitness drill is a click away.
