Vacheron Constantin Enriches The Academic Journey Of Six Female Emirati Students

The Swiss luxury watchmaker is committed to supporting a promising professional future.

Six aspiring senior undergraduate students have the unique opportunity to be mentored by six inspiring, successful Emirati women in a new educational initiative by Vacheron Constantin. Aimed at empowering and motivating young women in the UAE, the ‘One Of Not Many Mentorship Program’ is a six-month journey of observation, exploration and experimentation that will offer all the career guidance the brilliant youngsters need.

The mentorship programme, launched in collaboration with the prestigious Zayed University and local luxury consultancy entrepreneur Hala Al Gergawi, encourages women to continue pursuing their dreams to attain their ultimate goals.

“The programme is a one of a kind learning opportunity for our students to work closely with brilliant female leaders in the UAE,” Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth and President of Zayed University, said. “I’m certain that this experience will be an extraordinary one for them, as they will get to learn directly from the source and they will be able at the end of the programme to be more empowered to make decisions, identify goals and establish a sense of direction for their own careers and ambitions.”

During the three-week recruitment period, beginning in November 2020, students will have the chance to apply through the Zayed University website for the opportunity to be guided by the mentor of their choice. The selected six will have regular one-to-one sessions with their mentors, gain from a tailored plan in accordance with their objectives and will be encouraged to achieve their own professional destinies. Throughout the six months, the mentors will generously share their own experiences, career advice and guide the mentees to discover the reality of their own fields. Any of the students might also land another enriching learning experience, an internship with Vacheron Constantin, at the end of the programme.

The six mentors to take part in this one-of-a-kind educational programme are:
- Rafia Helal Bin Drai: Mauzan Founder and fashion designer
- Hala Al Gergawi: Tea Before Noon Founder and CEO
- Latifa Al Gurg: Twisted Roots Founder and fashion designer
- Alia Al Shamsi: author and artist
- Salama Al Shamsi: Founder of Salama’s restaurant
- Noora Shawqi: Noora Shawqi Founder and jewellery designer

The programme beautifully mirrors the spirit of the Maison, the oldest manufacturer of fine watches that has been faithfully carrying on a proud heritage of know-how, passion, creativity and craftsmanship. In other shows of support for women and the region, Vacheron Constantin recently launched the “Égerie” collection and has collaborated with the Emirati couture Maison Mauzan to come up with a capsule collection of unique abayas inspired by the collection totally dedicated to today’s woman.
