Art enthusiasts are rubbing their hands in anticipation for the region’s largest affordable retail art fair. World Art Dubai will be taking place from October 8-10 with an extended global collection of contemporary paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs and mixed media. The sixth edition of the event that makes art accessible to all, from private collectors and connoisseurs to corporate or first-time buyers, is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
This year’s show features an exciting collection of over 2,000 artworks with prices that range from $100 to $20,000. Mostly contemporary and covering all mediums, each work of art comes from an esteemed gallery or solo artist. Whether it’s the up-and-coming Emirati artists, pop-art stars, fashion art disrupters, expressionists not afraid to try something new or photographers, the stalls will be brimming with big names and rising stars from around 20 countries. From fine art to street art and Arabic calligraphy, the exhibition is set to be a melting pot of diverse artistic styles.
The headline event of the Official Dubai Art Season also features special collections curated by guest experts, putting the spotlight on topics like the human mind, the modern woman and ‘transformations.’ Additionally, World Art Dubai will include engrossing elements like art activations, work shops, live painting, graffiti, DJ, music and dance performances, an art fashion show where selected artists will present their artworks on a runway and curated art talks. Competitions and prize giving, including the Emerging Photographers Prize, in partnership with Nikon, also add to the excitement.
Plus, the artists’ reactions to COVID-19 is another reason to visit the event with a relaxed format, broad layout and hospitable and immersive environment, which provides attendees with a personal connection to the art they view The talented exhibitors from across the globe have had to “turn inwards for inspiration and create original artworks that reflect their different personal experiences with the pandemic,” according to the World Art Dubai website.
