Hollywood can’t get enough of Arab designers as they’ve dressed on the red carpets the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen and Bella Hadid, etc.
Speaking of red carpets, iconic Saudi designer Mohammad Ashi from Ashi studio dressed the equally iconic Billy Porter at this year’s socially distanced Emmy Awards.
Known for his outrageous, gender fluid, all-encompassing, statement style, Billy Porter walked the Emmys red carpet in a custom ensemble by Ashi, who famously dressed Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and Beyonce.
Nominated for the award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, Porter dressed for the occasion in an off-white suit featuring a “tailored jacket with draped detail” with a pair of flared trousers.
Ashi Studio described the look saying: “Featuring the finest silk crepe, the ensemble’s fabrics exuded luxury, as the refined textures and finish came together for a dramatic emotional drape effect. The jacket’s structured shoulders were paired with a soft collar to enhance the neckline, while the drape’s generous flow of fabric was designed to frame around the body in layers that flow down to the floor for a dramatic royal appearance.”
When it comes to style, Billy Porter defies all the rules, especially when it comes to gender, and chooses to make bold statements in clothing that is not feminine nor masculine, but an amalgamation of both along with a generous sprinkle of daring.
