Saudi Arabia To Launch Multisport Park Facilities To Boost Fitness

Get outdoors and get fit! In its latest initiative, Saudi Arabia has plans to get more active through a recent agreement with the Kingdom’s Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MoMRA).

The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) plans to launch a range of fitness facilities in parks and public spaces in three major cities that it believes will help people be more active and nurture more positive attitudes towards fitness. The facilities will be set up in Riyadh, Al-Khobar, and Abha, and span a range of multisport, running and walking programs, as well as equipment rentals and community academies.

According to Tradearabia.com, the news was announced recently at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Sport. In attendance were Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sport, and Majid bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Hoqail, the acting minister of municipal and rural affairs, and minister of housing.

Speaking on the occasion, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal said, “Every opportunity to encourage young men and women of this country to practice sports is a valuable approach that paves the way for the future of our country on all scales […] This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between various sectors, in order to achieve the goals of Vision 2030, which among its priorities is to give its citizens various opportunities in all aspects including the sports side.”

SFA President Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al-Saud also expressed his views on the launch of the new initiative, saying, “Working closely with the Quality of Life Program, we have activated people, and now, with our partners at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, we will be activating places. With the strong support of Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal and the Ministry of Sports, we hope to see our country’s parks become hubs of physical activity, health, and wellness.”
