A Spice Girls Documentary Is Coming & That's What We Really Really Want

Female empowerment was their message in the 90s and is the same for each of them in 2020.

The Spice Girls first appeared on our radars almost 25 years ago, and really never left, even after the band split up in 2000. The iconic girl group we all know and love, brings together five different personalities with each of them becoming our girlhood heroes: Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) and Melanie Chisolm (Sporty Spice).

Directed by British filmmakers, Rob Coldstream and Clare Cameron, who were the duo behind the 2019 docuseries that shared the details of the life and death of a reality star, Jade Goody, entitled, “Jade: The Reality Star Who Changed Britain.” The directors of the forthcoming documentary about the Spice Girls may solely work with the archival footage from the band’s past, it is yet to be confirmed whether any members of the 90s girl group are involved.

The Spice Girls have remained engrained in the memories of millions of people all over the world and continue to be household names in their own right since they parted ways in 2000. Since then, each of them has paved various career paths within the music, fashion and entertainment industry and are far from forgotten.

It had been speculated for some time that there would be a reunion tour on the horizon, and though it never came to fruition, fans have been able to access gallery exhibitions such as “Spiceworld” which was a huge success across several British museums as it showcased around 5000 priceless collectibles including merchandise, stage costumes and pop paraphernalia from the time including Scary Spice’s signature leopard-print jumpsuit and Ginger’s Union Jack boots.

With the release date of the documentary yet to be announced, we suggest you watch this space…
