The COVID-19 pandemic is still very much rife and frontline workers remain hard at work. In a bid to honor those everyday heroes, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE has created the Frontline Heroes Office.
The Frontline Heroes Office is chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and is an establishment that looks to continually raise awareness about the tireless work of those in the frontline of the pandemic, whilst providing those workers with assistance for their hard work.
The newly established organization hopes to open branches across each emirate whilst collaborating with a number of private and governmental bodies to roll out initiatives that will help to build a database of all of the frontline workers and provide assistance to them depending on their needs.
According to the Emirates News Agency, the Frontline Heroes Office will also organize events, nominate workers, grant awards and honor them with medals.
Leaders of the UAE have been vocal in sharing their gratitude for frontline workers in the UAE and all over the world, be it speaking publicly or on social media platforms. In April, on World Health Day, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince tweeted, “While medicines may treat, it is their support and care that gives us the hope for a healthier tomorrow. Let us recognize the brave medical staff globally who are leading the fight against Covid-19.”
Dubai’s Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also released a public statement in which he expressed his gratitude for the sacrifices and tireless work of the frontline workers, in which he stated, “My dear brothers and sisters, the brave heroes at the frontline… In our desperate times, you rose to the challenge,” he wrote, “Armed with your selflessness, you’ve redefined the meaning of service and sacrifice. Your courage has built an invincible fortress, protecting our society. We cannot thank you enough for your spirit that protects our nation. Thank you for putting our safety before yours. You have set an example for the heroes to come. Your sacrifice is inspiring, humbling, and a legacy that our history will remember forever.”
