Saudi Arabia Unveils Exciting National Cultural Awards

As part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to preserve and further develop its cultural sector, it has been launching a range of different initiatives aimed at achieving its objectives, from restoration projects to funding schemes. The Kingdom revealed another key initiative that will facilitate its efforts: the establishment of the National Cultural Awards! 

According to its official website, the National Cultural Awards celebrate the cultural achievements and artistic talent of individuals and groups across several cultural sectors. Encouraging cultural activity within the sixteen cultural sectors of the Ministry of Culture, the initiative “supports the realization of Vision 2030 through the Quality of Life program, by advocating culture as a lifestyle and supporting the status of the Kingdom as a hub of cultural activity.”

In a statement on the website, HH Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Culture, said, “The National Cultural Awards express the Ministry of Culture’s recognition and celebration of the immense contribution of Saudi artists and cultural producers to the cultural ecosystem in the kingdom while highlighting their crucial role in increasing cultural awareness and knowledge.”

The new award ceremony will feature 14 categories: The Cultural Personality of the Year Award, Youth Cultural Award, Cultural Institutions Award, Film Award, Fashion Award, Music Award, National Heritage Award, Literature Award, Theater and Performing Arts Award, Visual Arts Award, Architecture and Design Award, Culinary Arts Award, Publishing Award, and Translation Award. For details on the dates, requirements, terms and conditions, visit here.
