With the considerable degree of fear, worry and anxiety that comes with dealing with the mental burden of COVID-19, UAE residents will be relieved to know they can now download one of the world’s leading mindfulness and relaxation apps for free. The decision-makers at Synctuition, an Estonian born start-up supported by well-known scientists and experts, has announced their self-funded platform will be made free to people in 13 other countries as well, until July 31.

The announcement comes as the company with over 4 million users in Europe, the US and Asia has had a surge in demand and usage over the past few months. One of the reasons people are finding it a vital tool at the moment is that is uses the amazing power of 3D sound, providiing a unique immersive mind travel experience.

“We would like to use our platform to build on to keep people feeling safe, supported, and happy. We want to make a difference and provide hope to those seeking a bit of peace, release and mindfulness in their daily lives,” Michael Burich, COO and Co-Founder of the company that Google selected as one of Euorpe’s top 10 fastest growing start-ups in 2019, said.

“By making Synctuition a completely free, no-strings-attached resource for people, we are giving them a safe space in which to release anxieties and let their spirits soar above all of the daily deluge of heavy news.”

Burich added research has highlighted the positive impact that mindful practices can have on helping fight stress and anxiety. Additionally, they help people focus on the present, while nourishing patience, tolerance and imagination.

Free access to the app that was backed by 106 scientific studies and developed over 10 years comes as federal agencies and experts are warning of a wave of pandemic PTSD and other mental health issues on the rise. The World Health Organization has highlighted the main psychological impact to date is elevated rates of stress or anxiety. And as people everywhere endure the lasting impact of the pandemic, particularly quarantine, levels of loneliness, depression, harmful alcohol or drug use and self-harm or suicidal behaviour are also expected to rise.
