Ramadan automatically brings fasting and reflection to mind, but it’s also the month to connect with loved ones and support the less fortunate. If you’ve been mulling over how you can go about making some charitable gestures, one amazing way is to make a contribution to Comfort’s clothes donation initiative. The key laundry brand from Unilever has been helping UAE residents donate their gently used clothes to thousands of families in need for the past 10 years. And it continues to make it possible this year, all while we stay in the ‘comfort’ and safety of our homes.

The Comfort initiative aims to promote the power clothes can have in extending love and care to those in need, while ensuring safety measures are met. The campaign, titled ‘Give your clothes a second life’ is in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent and UAE-based laundry brand Washmen. Clothes donations are being collected across the UAE, with households in Dubai and Abu Dhabi getting the service for free, to put a smile on the faces of people from various underprivileged groups. Once the donations are collected, they are disinfected and cleaned using OMO detergent and Comfort fabric conditioner. All the proceeds are directed towards Emirates Red Crescent for distribution.

All you need to do is fill up any laundry bag with the clothes you don’t need or want anymore, mark the bag by writing ‘donation’ on it and schedule a pick-up time with Washmen. To facilitate things, Washmen has launched a separate ‘Donate’ feature on the app that customers can use to make donations this Ramadan.
