UNICEF Joins Saudi Arabia's Exciting 'Gamers Without Borders' Competition

This unique phenomenon has already gathered over 10,000 gamers around the wolrd.

Who knew gaming could save the world? The coronavirus pandemic has brought to this world extraordinary events bringing people from all over the world together.

One of them is "Gamers Without Borders", an electronic tournament to combat COVID-19, whose latest beneficiary to join is none other than the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports (SAFEIS) is the one organizing event that's uniting the vast e-sports community for a cause. UNICEF will be one of the charities eligible to a share of a whopping $10 million price fund the elite-level tournament winners will receive. 'Gamers Without Borders' already hosted more than 10,000 gamers based across the world and has attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers.

Amidst the pandemic, UNICEF has been delivering essential health supplies, ensure the construction of water and hygiene facilities, and keep girls and boys connected to education and protection as they minimize the impact of COVID-19 on the youth in more than 190 countries.

This one of a kind virtual gathering, which kickstarted on April 24th and will run until June 7, has amassed so far more than $1.5 million between charities in the fight against COVID-19: International Medical Corps, Direct Relief, Gavi and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Centre. And, that is just the start!
