Dubai COVID-19 Center Announces Free Testing To Nationals & Expats

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention reported a few days ago that it had completed more than 220,000 laboratory tests for coronavirus and over 125,000 nasal swabs since last month.

Since reports of the very first case in January this year, UAE has been taking extra precautions to test people as quickly and as effectively as possible. In March, Abu Dhabi launched a drive through COVID-19 testing center at which 600 people are tested every day and test results take a matter of minutes whilst patients wait in their vehicles.

Thankfully with the use of advanced technology, and following Abu Dhabi’s steps in making testing accessible and efficient, the Dubai Health Authority announced a drive through test center at the city’s Al Nasr Club.

The COVID-19 test center is open every day from 8 A.M to  6 P.M and tests are available for both expats and nationals and testing is free of charge and completed within 5 minutes. Patients can expect for their results to be delivered within 48 hours.

The drive through test centers seem to be a safe way to get tested for the novel coronavirus as they ensure minimal contact between people.

Dubai’s testing center carries out 250 tests per day and prioritizes the elderly, pregnant women, those with existing chronic health conditions and also those who have symptoms of the contagion.

As reported by Khaleej Times, people can book an appointment to get tested by calling the Dubai Health Authority on 800342, and once registered, they will receive a text message to confirm their appointment. Upon arrival at the test center, the patient must show their confirmation text and Emirates ID before the medical staff verify information and approach their car to obtain a nasal swab. After 48 hours, patients can receive their results on the DHA’s app.

At present, the UAE has ordered a 24 hour lockdown for 14 days, and residents must obtain a permit in order to leave their homes which includes going out for testing.
