Adding a show-stopping dish to your Iftar table is trouble-free if you have the right kitchen appliance to help you with the process.  This hearty and sumptuous herb-flavored sausage with tomato soup can easily be cooked to perfection at home using Panasonic’s newest meat grinder, the MK-ZJ3500.

Herb-flavored sausage with tomato soup
Preparation time: 90 minutes

Ingredients:
(For the herb-flavoured sausage)

  • 400g beef
  • 5 thyme leaf stalks
  • 5 Italian parsley stalks
  • 2 rosemary leaf stalks
  • ½  tsp fennel seeds
  • ½  tsp allspice powder
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 2m sheep casing


(For tomato soup)

  • 1 clove garlic
  • Olive oil (as desired)
  • 120g onion
  • ½ tsp each paprika (red/yellow)
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 eggplant
  • 240g cherry tomatoes
  • 500ml consommé bouillon
  • 100g canned tomatoes
  • 2 rosemary leaf stalks
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)


Method:

  1. Prepare the herb-flavoured sausage. Grind the beef using the Panasonic meat grinder MK-ZJ3500’s medium cutting plate.
  2. Add minced thyme, Italian parsley, rosemary, fennel seeds, allspice, salt and pepper.  Mix well.
  3. Set the sausage attachment onto the meat grinder and set the sheep casing. Insert the mixed ingredients from step two and turn on the switch. When about 10 centimetres of the ingredients from step two have been inserted into the sheep casing, twist the casing, then repeat the filling process.
  4. Proceed with preparing the tomato soup. Put minced garlic and olive oil into a pot, then stir-fry over low heat until it releases the aroma.
  5. Add thickly sliced onion, paprika, round sliced zucchini, eggplant and cherry tomatoes, then stir-fry.
  6. Add consommé bouillon, canned tomatoes, rosemary, bay leaves, salt, pepper and simmer.
  7. Add the prepared sausages from step three.  Simmer until cooked.
  8. Serve immediately.
