BAFTAs 2020: 10 Top Beauty Looks

Pink eyeshadow, fiery red lips and slicked hair were some of the biggest trends…

Scarlett Johansson

No one can deny it was a colourful night as the stars gathered for the EE British Academy Film Awards, better known as the BAFTAs. As well as choosing bright hues when it came to standout sustainable fashion, many A-listers walked the red carpet outside the Royal Albert Hall rocking bold hued make-up. Plus, they made sure not to disappoint in the dazzling hairstyles section either while they were busy honouring excellence during the 73rd edition of England’s biggest awards night.

Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan’s Old Hollywood-style beauty look came with a playful touch thanks to a strangely placed top-knot. The simply gorgeous updo, which had classic greaser coif vibes, came with a feminine flower-like faux bang and highlighted the Little Women star’s rainbow earrings. We also loved the Leading Actress nominee’s ultra-vibrant and cheery red lip colour.

The Duchess of Cambridge

The Duchess of Cambridge was a vision in a voluminous and intricate chignon that featured multiple twists and braids. Additionally, the British royal’s smoky eye came in soft, warm brown tones, which helped her blue eyes pop. Faultless brows, a bold sweep of eyeliner and an orange-hued lip topped off off the beauty look perfectly.

Ella Balinska

A vibrant magenta eyeshadow, teamed with sharp feline flicks, was the perfect matching add-on to Ella Balinska's showstopping floral dress. The Charlie's Angels actress also wowed us by styling her long locks in a chic, glossy high ponytail. Perfectly groomed brows, a nude lip and a fresh face looked just right with the bold eye look.

Scarlett Johansson

Her two nominations didn’t turn into triumphs, but Scarlett Johansson’s beauty look was indeed a winner. The acclaimed actress took pretty in pink to the next level by matching her gorgeous rose gold pink beaded dress with the same coloured eye shimmer, lippie and blush. The champagne-coloured highlights placed at the inner corners of her eyes were a pleasantly surprising addition. Another reason to bookmark the Jojo Rabbit and Marriage Story star’s beauty look is her sassy and sleek up-do, which helped show off her chandelier-inspired earrings.

Charlize Theron

Another actress to turn up the heat with pink eyes, a major trend on the red carpet, was Charlize Theron. The Leading Actress nominee matched the soft, muted blossom hues on her peepers with a warm pink lipstick. As well as a warm glow, The Bombshell star turned up rocking effortless beach waves with a soft, fluffy finish. The simple and edgy hairstyle was a nod to golden era times.

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke knocked us out with her eye make-up. In addition to using black eyeliner to define her upper and lower lash lines, there was that sultry warm brown smoky eye. The Game of Thrones star let her eyes do all the talking and paired the look with a simple nude glossy lip. And she was another actress to confirm slicked back hair was one of the night’s major trends with an elegant low chignon hairstyle.

Naomi Ackie

Naomi Ackie stunned in a waist-length braid that she draped over the exposed shoulder of her chartreuse green one-shoulder maxi dress. Besides her must-try twist, we thought the Star Wars actress’s sparkly dark green smoky eye made her brown eyes really stand out.

Jodie Turner-Smith

She looked like a ray of sunshine thanks to her yellow gown, and her pregnancy glow was hard to miss, but it was Jodie Turner Smith’s chin-length hairstyle that really made us do a double take. Her adorable and stylish curly blunt bob even came with a brow-grazing fringe. A glossy lip and a hint of purple shadow on her lids completed the British model and actress’s captivating beauty look.

Victoria Hope

Victoria Hope nailed her beauty look by matching her bright red gown with the same coloured electric rouge. Presenter Hope kept the rest of her make-up pared down, including full lashes, spruced up brows and yes, another really sleek updo. And as the ultimate final touch, there were teeny-weeny crystals glued around the inner and outer corners of her eyes.

Naomie Harris

Naomie Harris looked drop-dead gorgeous with her long curly hair. While the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s mahogany curls cascaded in loose tendrils, she kept her make-up look natural. We fell for her shimmering metallic eyeshadow, which came in "neutral caramel tones," according to make-up artist Kenneth Soh. The eye-make up co-ordinated with her "tonal, caramel pink glossed lips." Glowing skin, full lashes and complementary blusher also played their part.
