Saudi Female Equestrians Steal the Show at Diriyah Equestrian Fest

Diriyah Season has been one of many firsts and this one was a noteworthy moment as 13 female Saudi equestrians made their debut at Diriyah Season.

Saudi Aramco’s four star Diriyah Equestrian Festival is a spectacular event which welcomes over 120 horse riders, 150 horse grooms, 50 officials, 300 companions and trainers over 2 weekends of all things equestrian. This particular event is a significant one as it is qualifying step for participants who want to be recruited for the 2020 World Cup and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

With Saudi Arabia consistently making history, this Diriyah Season allowed female equestrians to compete alongside male participants for the first time ever.

Running until the 21st of December 2019, 13 Saudi female equestrians are taking part in the FEI sanctioned event. It would be the first time that Saudi women would be given the chance to compete in their home country at this level.

Diriyah Season is a month long event in Saudi Arabia at which iconic sporting events, including Formula E, Tennis championships and more are celebrated.
