20 Best Looks from the American Music Awards 2019

Unsurprisingly, a lot of the stunning looks at the 47th American Music Awards came from Arab labels.

Taylor Swift

The recent American Music Awards had a lot going on. The 2019 Artist of the Decade recipient Taylor Swift broke Michael Jackson's record for the most American Music Awards. Another singer to make the headlines was Billie Eilish, 17, who took home two new awards, including Artist of the Year. On the romance front cute couple Anwar Hadid and Dua Lipa made their red carpet debut, plus of course there were so many A-listers taking to the stage we couldn’t keep up. While one of the highlights saw Toni Braxton taking romantics back to 1996 with her hit song Un-Break My Heart, another was Selena Gomez making her comeback. However, the songstress, who performed Lose You To Love Me and Look At Her Now, has been called out for singing off key while kicking off the event, which took place at LA’s Microsoft Theatre.

And when it came to their outfit choices, the music industry's biggest names made it clear they had a fun night in mind, with sparkles and prints taking over. There were a lot of head-turning hues too, including Gomez’s strapless satin lime green Versace mini dress with ruffled detail. Dua Lipa also brought a pop of colour to the awards ceremony, rocking some on-trend pink. The hot pink silk strapless maxi dress by Miu Miu featured pleated detailing, a thigh-high slit and black velvet bow. Plus, there was Lizzo glowing in a bright orange one-shoulder ruffled dress by Valentino. The Truth Hurts singer made sure to command attention by pairing it with what could be the world’s smallest purse by the Italian label, and she let it be known there’s only three of them. As the host, R&B sensation Ciara changed into nine ensembles, and a number of them came from Arab labels. One of our favourites was Georges Hobeika’s orange, long-sleeved, crystal-embellished jumpsuit that came with an oversized bow.

The Grammy-award winning singer wasn’t alone when it came to picking regional talent to stand out at the ceremony. For her rendition of Un-Break My Heart, Braxton slayed in a dreamy white tulle gown by Kuwaiti designer Yousef Aljasmi. Meanwhile, Heidi Klum turned up wearing a flirty number by Bahraini label Monsoori. The 46-year-old German beauty stunned in the spaghetti-strap dress, which featured a navy mini feather skirt and silver bodice. Regina King also slayed in a black cold shoulder gown by Saudi-born Mohammed Ashi of Ashi Studio. The glittery long dress showed off her upper body via a big keyhole neckline. Additionally, Paula Abdul was a vision in a single-shoulder, crystal-embellished dress with a revealing slit from Lebanese label Charbel Zoe.
