In a totally unexpected turn of events, its been announced that Prince Charles has teamed up with Yoox Net-A-Porter to launch an exclusive collection for both men and women. Not the first British royal to be making a foray into the fashion industry, as we saw Meghan Markle collaborate with high street retailer, Marks and Spencer earlier this year for a charitable cause, Prince Charles is the next to be doing something rather similar.
The Prince’s Foundation, Prince Charles’s very own charity, has partnered with the luxury online retail giant, YOOX NAP, with the name of the exclusive collection having been revealed as “The Modern Artisan.” Expected to launch next year for AW20, the charitable fashion collab looks to highlight and combine artisanal skill and technique with contemporary and digitally driven designers with sustainable luxury production. This particular partnership between a royal trust and fashion is set to aid young and emerging designers with attaining the skills required to succeed in the digital world.
The Prince of Wales, with Yoox Net-A-Porter chairman Federico Marchetti and students
Prince Charles’s collaborative design project is being designed in Italy and manufactured in the UK, and speaking about the exciting partnership, the Chairman of Yoox Net-A-Porter, FredericoMarchetti said, "”The Modern Artisan” collection will be an important expression of how talent and technology can work across boundaries and borders. This project, part of a longterm partnership between Yoox Net-a-Porter and The Prince’s Foundation, will help equip a new generation of skilled men and women to fuse traditional craft with digitally-infused creativity - and, importantly, to do so sustainably, following the example of HRH The Prince of Wales who has dedicated the last 40 years to building a more sustainable future."
Once ready to launch, “The Modern Artisan” collection will be available to purchase on Mr Porter, Net-A-Porter, Yoox and The Outnet, with all profits going straight to The Prince’s Foundation, which is a cause dedicated to supporting the less fortunate through “the power of community.”
