Thousands of Youth from Nearly 120 Countries Flock to Saudi Arabia For The Misk Global Forum

This week marked the fourth edition of the annual Misk Global Forum, launched in Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh, bringing in people from across the globe to the country for the two-day event. This year’s edition, entitled “Work Reworked,” brought young leaders, creators, and thinkers to Saudi Arabia to meet with established global innovators in order to explore, experience, and experiment with ways to meet the challenge of change.

The forum, which is the flagship global platform of the Misk Foundation, a non-profit philanthropic foundation established by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, was established as a way to connect Saudi youth to the global economy. This edition saw over 140 leading entrepreneurs and around 5,000 attendees from over 120 countries, a significant increase from the previous edition’s 3,500 delegates from around 80 countries.

This year’s theme explored new trends and transformations in the world of work, discussed through four key themes: workforce, workflow, workplace, and Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC). The last theme is described on the forum’s official website as “the largest and most diverse global start-up pitch competition, with 100,000 entrepreneurs participating from 170 countries, and national finals held in 100 countries. The EWC supports young entrepreneurs to unleash their ideas, hone their pitching skills and engage with a global network of mentors through a virtual accelerator program. It also offers the chance to compete for life-changing prizes.”

During the two days, speakers and participants aimed to develop good practices and empower youth with the knowledge and skills to take the decisions they need to meet the challenge of change in a new era of work. Speaking at the event, Misk Global Forum CEO Al-Shaymaa Hamiduddeen was quoted by Saudi Gazette as saying, “The subject of the forum this year “Work Reworked” will explore many ways to enhance creativity and build skills for a new world of work […] The Forum will be an international platform bringing together nascent companies (startups), established global innovators, counselors and policy makers.”
