The Met Gala’s Theme for 2020 Has Been Announced

Every year, we look forward to some of the most monumental moments in fashion at the Met Gala, and almost always judge a celebrity’s dedication to the given theme via their choice of outfit. Now that 2020’s Met Gala theme has been announced, we are already anticipating some monumental looks as the next edition coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Metropolitan Museum of Art at which the gala is held annually.

Next year’s given theme is, “ About Time: Fashion and Duration,” in a bid to pay tribute to the museum’s milestone of 150 years. The Ney York Times reported that the theme has been somewhat inspired by “two of the 20th century’s most prominent personalities: modernist author Virginia Woolf and French philosopher Henri Bergson.”

The Met Gala will also inaugurate the launch of a newly curated fashion exhibition comprised of 160 pieces of womenswear collected over the last 150 years.

2020’s edition of the highly anticipated, iconic, star studded, red carpet event, will be chaired by Oscar winner, Meryl Streep – and will be the first time she will also be attending the gala. Previous internationally renowned personalities who have chaired the event include tennis champion, Serena Williams, humanitarian lawyer, Amal Clooney and actresses Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman.

We cannot wait to watch the red carpet shenanigans and the sartorial interpretations of the theme from the comfort of our sofas and note the best and worst dressed – pass us the popcorn!
