Scitech’s New Saudi Heritage Museum

In celebration of the kingdom’s 89th annual Saudi National Day, the Abdullah bin Mohammed Ababtain Heritage Museum, in collaboration with the Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Center for Science and Technology (Scitech), just unveiled a Saudi heritage exhibition.

President of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dr. Sahl Abdul Jawad, oversaw the event at the new museum which has a focus on life in Saudi Arabia’s eastern province. From the province’s maritime life, including diving and sea life, to royal visits, precious gems, and a look at its prominent historical sites. Not only that, there is also a “brides’ corner” at the museum as well as a display of heritage weapons that were once used alongside cultural manuscripts, folklore, ancient devices and an Islamic monetary unit from between the Umayyad era and the 19th century. The museum looks to bridge the past and modern day life.

Supervisor at the museum, Mohammed Ababtain conveyed the importance of the new exhibition in a statement, “The museum is keen to highlight the link between the past and the present and enhance the concept of national belonging. This is part of our social responsibility toward our province.”
