Naomi Campbell and Adut Akech
From Kendall Jenner debuting a blonde hairdo on the Burberry catwalk, her first this season, to Harper Beckham stealing the show as she whirled around in one of her mum's creations, London Fashion Week was jam-packed with memorable moments. Plus, of course, the fashion was as interesting as ever, with the English capital having gained a reputation for offering offbeat, slightly wild but always polished looks. From Erdem’s 19th Century technicolour ruffles to Richard Quinn’s oversized florals and so much big dress energy, there was a lot to take in.
However, one could say the after-parties and events treat us with just as much show-stopping fashion and people watching. While attending the “Love” magazine and YouTube party at the newly opened The Standard Hotel, 33-year-old Irina Shayk looked as gorgeous as ever in a billowing, patterned mini-dress, which she accessorised with burgundy heels and shades. Other cool looks from that night came from sister act Gigi and Bella Hadid, who had also walked in Burberry’s first carbon neutral show. Bella was ready to rock in a leather jacket, white slogan dress and high heeled boots, while Gigi donned a crystal-embellished suit and showed off her midriff.
Dressier looks came from the annual Fashion For Relief charity gala, with host Naomi Campbell, 49, looking incredible in a black sheer dress with a plunging neckline. While Cindy Bruna, who wore a white trouser suit with feather detail by Beirut-based label Ashi Studio, looked angelic, BBC Radio 1 host Maya Jama looked ethereal in a gorgeous green hued gown with a low-cut caged bodice by another Lebanese brand, HassIdriss. The Lebanese connection at the event that raises money for the Mayor’s Fund for London and Unicef continued with Leomie Anderson and Loujain Juffali. Anderson wore a one-shoulder, asymmetric dress with a black overlay in another standout green from Jean Louis Sabaji. And the stunning Lebanese-born Juffali, who found fame as a model and MTV presenter, chose a frothy lilac gown, which she accessorised with a diamante belt.
Elegant black was a popular colour at the Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori party, worn by A-listers like Ellie Goulding, Laura Harrier and Lady Kitty Spencer, who was the epitome of glamour. The stunning 28-year-old spokesperson for the Italian luxury brand wore a strapless, tiered tweed gown with a tulle ruffled neckline. Just like newlywed Goulding, who was in a strapless one-legged jumpsuit, she fittingly wore stunning jewellery. Plus, Libyan-Spanish actress Hiba Abouk stood out at the official launch of the latest Serpenti Seduttori women’s watch collection in a velvety midnight blue number.
