Shawarma Fatteh

Just when you thought shawarma cannot taste any better, we bring to you this twist on the popular Middle Eastern sandwich.

OF AN ADULT'S REFERENCE INTAKE

Ingredients

  • 2 sliced chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 large potato (sliced into circles and fried)
  • 1 cup shredded and toasted bread

For the sauce:

  • 1 cloves mashed garlic
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons yogurt
     

For decoration:

  • 1 cup (toasted) almonds
  • ​½ cup sliced pickled cucumber

Method

  1. Marinate chicken breasts in white vinegar for an hour minimum
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick pan then add the chicken slices
  3. Stir until it becomes white in color
  4. Stir chicken with salt, black pepper, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano
  5. Add lemon zest, stir chicken
  6. Turn off heat, and put the chicken aside
  7. To prepare the sauce: mix garlic, mayonnaise, and yogurt
  8. Place the fried potato rings, chicken, sauce, and toasted bread in this order
  9. Sprinkle with roasted almonds and pickled cucumbers
  10.  Serve immediately
