Arab Shoe Designer Andrea Wazen is Stealing the Limelight in Hollywood

The Lebanese shoe designer’s flattering and beautifully handcrafted designs have been taking Hollywood by storm.

We’re used to hearing about dresses by designers from the region making waves on the red carpet, but there’s this one footwear brand that’s been getting its time in the limelight too. If there’s any need to prove Andrea Wazen has been seriously slaying it recently, it’s Sofia Richie stepping out in the designer’s SS19 Dassy heels while attending the 76th Venice Film Festival Opening Ceremony held at Sala Grande. The American model is the latest style star to step out in the Lebanese designer’s increasingly popular eponymous brand, and she looked amazing in the pointed translucent PVC pumps, which she wore with her Twinset co-ord. The same pumps have been spotted on actor Lucy Hale while she hosted the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, as well as former Miss USA Olivia Culpo. Plus, Ashley Graham wore them with a black midi dress with big ruffled sleeves by Christian Siriano at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards.

Other fashion-forward celebrities that have recently been showing off their feet in the brand that is designed and produced in Beirut include Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber. The two gorgeous friends have been seen out and about in a pair of Wazen’s Denver pumps. The pointed mesh shoe really stood out with their outfits thanks to its discrete lingerie-like transparency and elegant buckle strap.

Brazilian influencer Camila Coelho, Thandie Newton and Emily Ratajkowski, who chose a pair of brown open-toed heels to complete her rocking ab-baring look at the 12th annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, have also fallen for Wazen’s fresh, modern and original footwear Additionally, Jennifer Lopez also cemented the fact Wazen’s designs are the latest must-have among the elite when she matched her bright neon Nicolas Jebran bodysuit with thigh-high boots by Wazen during her It's My Party tour.

She’s been passionate about sketching and designing from a young age, so it isn’t a surprise the London-born Wazen has created a success story with her high quality, handmade shoes. After Wazen moved to Paris to study at the Istituto Marangoni Italian fashion school, she discovered her talent in shoe designing. And with encouragement from others, she relocated to London in 2010 to focus on it as a specialisation. While there, she turned to renowned footwear designers Rupert Sanderson and Christian Louboutin for training and guidance. She has also benefited from shoe design courses at the British capital’s renowned Central Saint Martins School of Arts. Wazen thanks both European capitals for giving her the experiences and motivation she needed to start her own label in 2014 when she was just 24.
