14 Best Red Carpet Dresses at the 2019 Venice Film Festival

The 11-day event has already offered so many fabulous red carpet looks, with bright colours, black and gold dominating.

Stars are flocking to the prestigious Venice International Film Festival, bringing all the glitz and glamour to the City of Masks with them. Organised by La Biennale di Venezia, the major event for film buffs is also known to fascinate fashionistas, whether it’s the high-fashion on the red carpet, the groovy after-parties looks or the fresh-off-the-gondola style statements.

Taking place at Venice Lido until September 7, we are going to spoilt with so many red carpet fashion looks to drool over. The first couple of days have already seen some of the most fashion-forward A-listers step out in creations that cement the fact the Italian festival is one of the world’s most dazzling style spectacles.

Many celebrities have been spotted in black, what many consider to be the chicest colour. Kate Upton looked stunning in a black V-neck ballgown, while Sofia Richie opted for a trendsetting sparkly crop top teamed with a high-waisted high-low skirt. Martha Hunt stunned in a strapless gown with a feathered bodice and high-slit sheer skirt, while fellow model Elsa Hosk turned heads in a tight-fitting halter neck gown with revealing criss-crossing straps across the midsection.

Bright colours have also been prevalent, with modelling legend Iman making a grand entrance in an arresting caped gown decorated with nature-inspired images and real feather accents. Plus, Scarlett Johansson dazzled in a red-hot sequinned gown with a thigh-high slit, while Jasmine Sanders looked ultra cute in a turquoise blue strapless puffball mini number. Another star to go for a fresh look was Molly Sims, who made a statement in a lilac pink pleated gown with an exaggerated organza bolero.

Additionally, we couldn’t get enough of the different golden hues we spotted, including South African Candice Swanepoel’s one-shoulder number with a sexy exposed back. Another stunning model, Brazilian Isabeli Fontana, rocked a custom gold draped number.
