It doesn’t come as a surprise that UAE-based beauty and makeup influencer and mogul, Huda Kattan, has topped Instagram’s Rich List in the beauty section. Huda is an American-Iraqi entrepreneur and the creator and face of Huda Beauty, a brand with an increasing global demand.
Starting out with lashes, Huda Beauty now boasts a collection of everything from eyeshadows and lipsticks to foundations and concealers. You name it, Huda Beauty has it. In the list created by Hopper HQ, Huda Kattan beat American beauty influencers and makeup artists including Jeffree Star and James Charles, and British beauty influencer Zoe Sugg.
Kattan has topped the beauty section of Instagram’s Rich List 2 years running, and is a tough act to follow as reported by Hopper HQ, who use internal information and analytics to compile the information for the Rich List. Huda has the ability to charge a whopping USD $90,000 per sponsored post. Despite being within her rights to do so, the makeup mogul has always been vocal about choosing not to use her social media pages to post sponsored content.
Speaking to Vogue Arabia earlier this year, Huda’s sister Mona stated, "We started the brand out of passion, with a vision. I’m not here for the money, I’m here for my own need to create."
"In the beginning, we struggled so much to make money. There were so many times we didn’t know if we were going to make it, if we even had a future. We didn’t have the opportunity to allow for failure. Some brands can have one product do well while one doesn’t. We couldn’t. If there was a failure, we would have gone bankrupt. In order to do the rose gold palette, I didn’t draw a salary for a few months. Nobody knew what was on the line for that launch. It did so well. It changed the industry."
