Rive Droite: Saint Laurent’s New Retail Destination

The creative and cultural destination that expands the world of Saint Laurent is an immersive experience.

Just two days after showing off their menswear spring/summer 2020 collection, Saint Laurent opened the doors to their new lifestyle-oriented shopping destination. Located on 213, Saint-Honoré street, the cultural and creative concept store is the brainchild of Anthony Vaccarello, the Creative Director who has been busy imagining and embracing new ways of enlarging the universe and DNA of Saint Laurent. The store’s name, Rive Droite, is a cheeky nod to the French luxury fashion house’s Rive Gauche line, which helped democratise fashion and luxury in the 60s.

“We want to be more immersive for the consumer, and possibly reach some people who wouldn’t necessarily come to Saint Laurent, but who could – through this boutique – better understand the universe I’m trying to create,” Vaccarello told Women’s Wear Daily while describing the concept he developed. He also explained while his new retail format has taken over the former Colette spot, it’s not an imitation of the Parisian concept store.

Rive Droite, which is a far cry from the brand’s former minimalist stores, is set to serve as a retail destination for “expression, exchange and lifestyle.” There’s a wide range of branded items from different creative and design fields, including exclusive pieces, limited editions and collectibles.

The store, which has a coffee counter, showcases just about everything, from women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories to toy cars, Jean Prouvé chairs, stationery, skateboards and designer condoms. You can find a library, vinyls, photography and art too. What’s more, the store will also host performances, exhibitions, events and cultural exchanges. while collaborations are set to be one of the key components as well.

An amusing and chic version of today’s Saint Laurent universe can also be found in Los Angeles, at 469 Rodeo Drive. Both stores, which will always have new items on display, are decorated with mirrors and marble, the perfect combination for the Gram.
