It’s finally confirmed, Rihanna’s venture into the world of fashion is here and will be set into action on May 22nd when she presents her first collection for ‘Fenty’ in Paris. The brand will be featuring ready-to-wear clothing items, shoes and accessories including sunglasses and jewellery.
This will be an addition to her list of groundbreaking achievements, as her existing cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty, has seen wildfire success making almost €500 million in its first launch year. To add to that, Rihanna will become the first woman of color to head an LMVH house line and the first woman to create an original brand at LMVH.
“Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits,” said Rihanna as reported by Business of Fashion, “I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
Rihanna has been commencing conversations in the board rooms and outside of them. She has produced 40 shades of tints for her foundation to accommodate all colors, created new sizes in her Savage x Fenty lingerie collection to accommodate all shapes, and continues to make statements on issues happening in the USA, including police violence and marginalized communities.
The collection can only be anticipated as something colossal, as Rihanna’s ventures into the world of beauty and fashion have only been promising. Other than leading a huge army of followers on Instagram, the performer’s influence on the millennial generation is perhaps one of the greatest we’ve ever seen. Not just in the skin-deep sense, but her mentality, her stances, and her genuine anti-discriminatory memorandum of inclusion are what keep voices - and credit cards – roaring and rallying behind her.
