The Best-Dressed Stars at Louis Vuitton’s 2020 Cruise Show

Choosing the once abandoned masterpiece at JFK airport as a location highlights the importance of travel style when jet-setting to a picturesque destination.

From Rio de Janeiro to Kyoto, Louis Vuitton’s cruise show destinations have always been anything but dull. And for resort 2020, Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière decided it was fitting for the guests who came from all corners of the world to watch the collection and rub shoulders where all travel takes place, an actual airport.

The luxury French brand was the first to hold an event in the revamped TWA Flight Center in New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport Wednesday, before it opens to the public on May 15. A 200,000sqft space featuring a winged roof, the historic retro-futuristic landmark designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen was the ideal setting for the designer's signature aesthetic. Additionally, Louis Vuitton has always been associated with the “Art of Travel,” remember that multi-media campaign?

What happened on the catwalk was breathtaking, with a flashy 1980s-inspired collection that included gorgeous bejewelled party dresses, biker-ready black leather and huge skirts. However, the front row also caught our attention thanks to the runway presentation uniting a bevy of A-list fans in the Big Apple.

Ghesquière has many muses, including Emma Stone, who appeared holiday-ready in a chic silky forest green top and cream trousers with long zip-up vents. Michelle Williams, another famous face associated with the brand, also looked fabulous in a gleaming retro dress that featured wave-inspired silver sequins on the skirt and sleeves, while the shiny flecks on the lacy black bust seemed to be like snowflakes. Julianne Moore turned up in a silver sequinned skirt, which she paired with a white cropped leather jacket featuring black and white checkered sleeves and a green furry cape. Other fans and muses, Alicia Vikander, Jennifer Connelly, Cate Blanchett and Léa Seydoux looked uber-stylish while being supportive, all decked in pieces by the label, of course. Additionally, newlywed Sophie Turner was stunning in a black and white top with standout ruffle detail that was cinched at the waist with a sash, which she rocked with red leather trousers.
