MANGO’s Debut on the Coveted Pink Carpet

The MET Gala has been the word on everyone’s lips since the event took place on Monday 6th May 2019. The highly anticipated, star studded, fashion event’s theme this year was inspired by Susan Sontag’s “Notes On Camp”. What is the definition of CAMP? Well, the concept of camp is to be ostentatious, exaggerated, affected and theatrical, and this year the attendees bought it in high end couture gowns designed by the likes of Moschino, Versace, Gucci and Zac Posen.

However, an unlikely high street brand made an appearance on the MET Gala’s pink carpet this year. For the first time in history, the stunning soiree welcomed Spanish label, MANGO. Exclusively designed for brand ambassador, Sofia Sanchez de Betak, who wore a dress inspired by the ingenuity and extravagance of the camp concept, MANGO also took inspiration from its own branding.

The dress worn by Betak paid homage to an actual mango – using its bold color and executed in intricate fabrics, unique cut and volume. Focusing on a theatrical aspect, the accessories also perfectly complimented the finished look, including a bejeweled clutch bag in the shape of a mango.

Not leaving this look for the pink carpet alone, you will also soon be able to purchase an inspired piece yourself from a limited collection – including accessories, being released on June 3rd, including the dress worn on the red carpet. Here’s a sneak peek:
