Since becoming deputy prime minister, chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs, chairman of the Council of Political and Security Affairs, and minister of defense, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman has been making headlines across the globe and making his way into the nomination lists for prestigious awards. For instance, his drive and forward thinking placed him in the top choices in 2017 and 2018 for TIME magazine’s annual Person of the Year poll.

This year, the young leader is once again being recognized for his efforts, this time in Pakistan where he has been awarded the prize for “The Most Influential Personality of the World 2018.” According to Saudi Gazette, the prize certificate and honorary shield, which was handed by the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi to Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Islamabad Nawaf Bin Said Al-Malki, is given by the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) to the most influential personalities that have served Islam and Muslims.

At the event, PUC’s Chairman Sheikh Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Ashrafi explained that the Crown Prince was chosen for this year’s title based on the recommendations of the 2019 Committee. His win was based on a number of factors including his efforts and noble deeds in serving Islam and Muslims, his care for the two holy mosques, pilgrims, Umrah performers, and his continuous defense of Muslim minorities around the world.

Sheikh Ashrafi also highlighted that the Crown Prince was awarded the prize because of “his assistance to the Pakistani government and people and standing by them to overcome all the circumstances and difficulties and to meet all the challenges, his big support in giving a push forward to the wheel of peace, strengthening and enhancing the peace process, cooperation and tolerance between India and Pakistan.”
