Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Addresses the First Emirati Female Firefighters

With Arab women consistently making headlines for all the right reasons, they once again, made history this month. On April 9th, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met the UAE’s first certified Emirati female firefighters.

After graduating from a Women’s Firefighting Course in Sharjah, the newly certified female firefighters were congratulated by Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince for smashing yet another glass ceiling and he stated, “The UAE woman is always proving her worth in performing all the national tasks assigned to her, excelling herself in fulfilling her responsibilities and meeting her obligations,” adding that, “the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, set women’s empowerment on top of the country’s national priorities, with women now being true partners and contributors to the national developmental drive and strategic plans for the nation’s present and future.”

The female firefighting squad were addressed at Qasr Al Bahr Majlis where the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi had himself received an entrustment of the Military and Peacekeeping Programme for Arab Women. The objective of this this programme is to help with preparing women officers for the United Nations peacekeeping operations worldwide.
