Oscars 2019: 6 Top Beauty Looks

The stars decided to oblige with some totally head-turning beauty looks for Hollywood’s most-watched night of the year.

Regina King

Hollywood’s elite didn’t disappoint when it came to bringing their best beauty game to the 91st Academy Awards, in fact the stars seemed to pull out all the beauty stops while on the red carpet at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

From Laura Harrier’s baby blue pastel lids to Emilia Clarke’s standout hot pink pout and fresh-faced make-up, here are six of our favourite looks from the final and most spectacular night of awards season.

Laura Harrier’s Baby Blue Eyeshadow

Always willing to try a bold beauty look, Laura Harrier possibly pulled off her best one so far at the Oscars. The fresh look was inspired by Harrier’s cerulean dress, and make-up maestro Hung Vanngo wanted her peepers to reflect similar hues. He created the eye look by applying a warm plum eyeshadow along the upper and lower lashes and in the creases and then a blue powder wash on the centre of her lids. A shiny pinkish-red lip, illuminated skin, mascara and some eyeliner finished off the “BlacKkKlansman” actress’s amazing look. Her hair also looked gorgeous in an extremely soft, feminine and pretty updo.

Regina King’s Glowing Skin

Regina King was positively blooming when she picked up her Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Make-up artist Latrice Johnson prepped her skin with multi-functional face mist and beauty oil and boosted the glow with a highlighter and balm duo. We also loved the “If Beale Street Could Talk” star’s shimmering soft cat eye and lined standout false lashes. A wavy lob and gleaming pinkish lipstick, which was created using a trio of lip products, made up the rest of her winning beauty look.

Amy Adams’s Bronzed Beauty

Amy Adams’s coppery smoky eye is all the beauty inspiration you need to turn to for a soft sparkle. Make-up pro Stephen Sollitto created the look by mixing bronze, copper and gold shades. He went on to line the upper lashes in a light brown powder pencil and applied a dash of liquid eyeliner. To complement the eyes, Sollitto used rosy nude colours on the cheeks and lips, using a gloss and liner. Additionally, the “Vice” star and Best Supporting Actress nominee’s natural-looking waves were a refreshing change from the ultra-polished updos we’ve seen her in throughout the awards season.

Emilia Clarke’s Hot Pink Pout

Emilia Clarke returned to her roots with a rich chestnut-brown hair colour on the Oscars red carpet. And her captivating short, sleek bob with centre parting allowed the focus to fall on her sheer hot pink lips. The Mother of Dragon’s pout positively popped against her sparkly lavender dress. Jillian Dempsey, the make-up artist behind Clarke’s beauty look, used a liquid colour with a matte finish for the statement lip. The “Game of Thrones” actress, who presented an award, also had a flawless natural-looking complexion thanks to a tinted moisturiser and long-wear concealer. Plus, we couldn’t help fawning over her natural yet intense matching shimmering creamy eyeshadow and pink cheeks, as well as those strong brows.

Lucy Boynton’s Rosy Make-up

Lucy Boynton sported a make-up look that gave a modern spin to Old Hollywood glam. Her make-up artist, Jo Baker, wanted her to look “timelessly beautiful, like a 2019 Grace Kelly,” as she explained via Instagram. The retro-inspired make-up included a muted rosewood smoky eye, with the make-up artist actually using a pink cheek colour on the eyes as a base. She then added dimension with rosy peach and shimmery lilac eyeshadows. The “Bohemian Rhapsody” star’s effortlessly glamorous dreamy and glowy beauty look was topped off with a soft glossy plum hued lipstick, for a monochromatic look which complemented her eyes and dress, sultry lashes and soft, wavy hair.

Emma Stone’s Graphic Copper Eyes

Emma Stone looked mesmerising in her monochromatic look. “The Favourite” actress’s sleek, elegant and high-shine chignon prettily matched her striking dress, as did her vivid eyeshadow. To create the coppery shade, make-up artist Rachel Goodwin, who wanted to make Stone’s eyes the focus, applied a copper hued multi-tasking pencil over her lids, creases and lower lashes. Goodwin then added another coppery shade across the lid to define the edges to blend it with sparkling brown eyeliner for a smoky look. Then, to intensify the colour, the artist added a luminous amber coloured eyeshadow. A brown brow pencil and black dramatic, voluminous lashes also helped the Best Supporting Actress nominee stand out from the crowd.
