Another milestone is achieved and another triumphant entry in history; Princess Reema bint Bandar has been officially appointed as the Saudi ambassador to the United States of America. Her highness is the first woman to be chosen for this role, and the nation couldn’t be prouder.

Aside from her qualifications, HRH’s father was an ambassador to the States for 22 years, before Prince Khaled bin Salman was appointed, so she is no stranger to the diplomatic discourse that surrounded her upbringing. Before embarking on this historic journey, Princess Reema was dominating industries and paving the way for other Saudi women in the country.

While she served as the CEO of Harvey Nichols in Riyadh, she worked with the Ministry of Labor to initiate women into the retail industry, thus opening up hundreds and thousands of job opportunities. She was also responsible for creating social enterprises, such as Alf Khair, that advance the capital of Saudi women in professional industries. This isn't the first time Princess Reema blazes a trail for her fellow Saudi women, as she was appointed President - first female president - of the General Sports Authority in KSA. The Saudi ambassador to the US is also a keen activist for health awareness, as she founded Zahra Breast Cancer Association alongside Dr. Saud bin Amer that serves as an incentive for women to get tested and checked regularly.

This unstoppable woman is the ultimate archetype for Saudi female power, and the living example that women in the kingdom can literally achieve anything they put their minds to. Her motivation, ingenuity, and eagerness is a banner to be held high in the hearts and minds of all Saudi people, not just women, on this day.

Saudi Vision 2030, spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, which supports women progressing and governing industries and fields all over the country, seems to be in full swing after this news. We can’t wait to see what else is in store.
