The fashion world has turned its sights on Milan. So far, kinky leather masks and chokers (many studded with dramatic spikes), offbeat accessories and a space covered with floor to ceiling illuminated mirrored materials, made for a memorable Gucci show. Meanwhile, Max Mara’s star-studded runway had the likes of Kaia Gerber, Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk and Eva Herzigová strutting in chic neutral and bright separates and outerwear. And we can’t get over Bella Hadid in that long ivory silk gown with thigh-split and bejewelled racy cutaway bodice at the Alberta Ferretti show.
However, there’s also a lot of typical Italian glam to be had off the runways during the Milan Fashion Week autumn/winter 2019-2020 collections. Editors, buyers, models, bloggers and celebrities have been providing some amazing outfit inspiration while in the third destination of fashion month, whether sitting front row or spotted on the streets heading to the shows. Ultra chic and whimsical looks, as well as lots of fun colours, must-have accessories and mix-and-match prints, have been the name of the game.
From regionally-associated fashion lovers like Salma Hayek and Jessica Kahawaty to native Italians who keep on proving why Milan is a can’t miss fashion destination, these are the best-of-the-best looks that caught our attention.
