Zendaya is heading back to Paris Fashion Week and it’s not to watch all the awesome shows.
The American actress and singer will be there for the premiere of the “TommyXZendaya” collaborative collection at the TOMMYNOW experiential runway event.
With Zendaya’s celebrity status continuing to rise thanks to big roles in movies like “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “The Greatest Showman,” and the fact she’s such a mega style inspiration, it isn’t a surprise Tommy Hilfiger has collaborated with the 22-year-old on a limited-edition spring 2019 collection. The celebrity collaboration follows Tommy Hilfiger’s popular two-year affiliation with Gigi Hadid.
Thankfully, one of the world’s most recognised premium designer lifestyle groups has given us a sneak peak, enabling us to choose our favourite pieces so we’ll be all set to hit the purchase button or head to a Tommy Hilfiger store after the show on March 2.
For her debut collaborative collection, the self-assured Zendaya, who is global brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger womenswear, took inspiration from the 70s, namely the decade's "strong, iconic women," according to a press release. And the Battle of Versailles fashion show that took place during that era and the powerful statement made by the American models who took to the catwalk was a point of reference for the design team.
The looks from the collection are strong and confident, with structured silhouettes. High-waisted skirts, cinched with oversized belts, jeans and suits in colours like rich cream, navy, burgundy and Cabernet red with “Z” and “T” embroidery all feature in the collaboration.
Timeless tailored suits are updated with a modern twist, featuring slightly flared trousers and narrow waist blazers in cream plaid and Cabernet red. Plus, there are some gorgeously structured coats, as well as knit sweaters with alternating stripes.
Rainbow stripes and multi-coloured zodiac-inspired prints on pieces varying from feminine full-length wrap dresses to luxurious satin shirts and suits add a playful edge to the collection, which includes accessories, swimwear and underwear.
