Paris Couture Week 2019 Spotlight: Arab Designers

One of the most awaited weeks on the fashion calendar is finally here: Paris Couture Week 2019 – and boy is there a buzz around whose showing.

Rami Kadi at Paris Couture Week SS19

This year there is a bit of a focus on the most talented and renowned Arab couture designers – and as we all know, Arab designers are born with couture in their DNA. Storming the Paris Couture Week will be the latest collections by Georges Hobeika, Elie Saab, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, and Rami Kadi – amongst others and this is the whole list of Middle Eastern talent on our watch list:

Zuhair Murad

We often catch this designer’s work on the red carpet, adorned by the likes of JLo and Catherine Zeta Jones, and this couture week, the designer will be shutting his show down with Victoria’s Secret model, Alessandra Ambrosio amongst other well-known model faces. We can’t wait to see all that glam from this genius Lebanese designer.

Tony Ward

With couture in his blood, Tony Ward cut his teeth at world famous fashion houses, Lanvin, Christian Dior, and Chloe and went on to launch his own couture label. Already one of the most coveted shows, the Lebanese fashion designer’s collection this year was nothing short of a dark fairytale.

Rami Kadi

Being seen on Beyonce, Sonam Kapoor and JLo is kind of a big deal, and from having a list of celebrity fans, Rami Kadi makes his Paris Couture Week debut this year. This Lebanese label is all about the glitz and glam of sequined gowns and risqué couture.

Azzi & Osta

Lebanese designer duo, Azzi & Osta, will be showcasing their latest collection this Couture Week with a flowing theme of hyper-feminine pieces that look to be from somewhere in the future. Beyonce also love this duo!

Elie Saab

Elie Saab is an international Beirut-established powerhouse – coveted by many, from runways to weddings, this couturier is always busy dressing the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, and Lupita Nyongo. Always highly anticipated at Paris Couture Week, we know we’re in for a sartorial treat!

Georges Hobeika

When couture is all about the OTT, who better to own the runway than the Lebanese Georges Hobeika? Last year his collections grabbed attention with sparkling crystals and stand out feathers, and this year? Well we’ve been left guessing whether he’ll opt for a minimal vibe or maintain the glamour of it all.

Maison Rabih Kayrouz

Breaking the mold, Maison Rabih Kayrouz isn’t your typical couture house. Scrapping meticulous embroideries and OTT glam, this luxe label takes a modern approach to couture using edgy cuts and unique fabrics. For their 10-year anniversary, we’re expecting to see something spectacular from this Beiruti brand.
