Formula E-Prix Kicked Off Yesterday in Saudi, and Spirits Were Soaring

The Formula E-Prix occupied Ad Diriyah, as early bird fans swarmed in to take advantage of the fantastic Allianz E-Village, a place that transforms you into other dimensions with the high-tech virtual reality games, before the races and concerts started.

For those who don’t know, the Formula E is a racing series that only uses electrically powered cars, sustainable yet fast and furious. Saudi Arabia signed a deal this year to host the Formula E-prix for the next 10 years, and ever since the event launched yesterday, everyone’s hearts were racing as well.

Jaguar, Audi, Porsche and many other huge automobile companies were contesting their environmentally friendly cars, in addition to the out-of-this-world tech entertainment, the delectable culinary options, the rich cultural UNESCO Heritage site, the occasion was truly a legendary one.

The scene was humming with enthusiasm as both Saudis and foreigners alike were mixing, mingling, and just making the most of the event.

With Vision 2030 coming into full action, this happening is probably considered to be one of the highlights of the year to Saudi citizens, residents, and foreign visitors. The first of its kind in the kingdom, the exhilaration was undeniable – and not just because some of the biggest names in the music industry were performing, as Latin pop megastar Enrique Iglesias and R&B sensation Jason Derulo launched the event yesterday.

“Saudi what’s up! This is a dream come true for me,” exclaimed Jason Derulo as reported by Arab News, “Since we’re in Saudi Arabia, I want to do things a little different,” he continued as the crowd went wild. He then went on to give the first performance of a new song, saying that his mother taught him that he was never to visit a new country with nothing in hand.

Consequently, twitter blew up in flames while Saudi fans experienced their favourite artists perform live:
