Hijabi Model Halima Aden Showed Up to Support Rihanna's First Makeup Masterclass in Dubai

Over the weekend, Barbadian-born singer, songwriter, actress, diplomat, and businesswoman Rihanna dazzled Dubai with her first ever makeup masterclass entitled Artistry and Beauty Talk. Held at the Armani Hotel, the event was hosted by Sephora Middle East with Rihanna’s best-selling Fenty Beauty line’s global makeup artists Priscilla Ono and Hector Espinal. Not only was RiRi there to share beauty secrets and meet attendees but renowned Somali-American model Halima Aden also made a surprise guest appearance at the event.

Rocking Fenty Beauty’s latest release, the new black Stunna lip shade called “Uninvited,” Aden showed up to show her support, snapping a photo with the 30-year-old music sensation and sharing it with thousands of online followers along with a caption that read: “The generous queen @badgirlrhirhi.” Aden is known for making history as the first hijab-wearing fashion model to walk international fashion shows. In her very recent career, she has already modelled for big names such as the likes of Yeezy and Alberta Ferretti.

Launched in September last year, Fenty Beauty just celebrated its first birthday. Although it has been on the market for a short time, the brand has been highly successful across the globe because of its inclusion of all skin complexions, particularly its Pro Filt'R foundation, which comes in 40 different shades. The brand was named one of TIME magazine’s 25 Best Inventions of the Year in 2017 and it’s easy to see why, from its all-inclusive tones to products that are multi-purpose, such as the Glass Bomb Lip Luminizer, which can also be used as an eyeshadow.

Keeping its tag line “Beauty for All” in mind, the brand’s event offered tips and advice for every woman. Hosting a packed venue of 200 attendees from all over the world, tickets for the event went for Dhs 1,000 to Dhs 7,500 (approximately $273 to $2,040), with all proceeds going to the UAE based philanthropic organization, Dubai Cares.
