The Largest University for Women in the World Just Certified its First Saudi Arabian Female Data Scientists

KSA is getting its first Saudi Arabian female data scientists all thanks to a partnership between Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU), the largest university for women in the world, and Dell, the American multinational computer technology company.

Arabian business stated that PNU’s College of Computer and Information Sciences said it has successfully trained 57 female data science and big data analytics students this semester with an additional 103 students certified in cloud infrastructure.

Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences, Auhood Alfaries, explained the importance of such a step, as she added that, “building a comprehensive curriculum to cover the essential knowledge area for the computing disciplines and to equip our students with the skills required for the future workplace is a priority for PNU.”

She continued speaking about the university’s aspiration in line with this new achievement, “We strive to continually evolve to contribute towards building a knowledge-based economy, in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030, through strategic academic partnerships such as the Dell EMC External Research and Academic Alliance program, which plays a crucial role in effectively developing our students into tomorrow’s workforce.”

Dell’s Senior vice president and regional manager in Middle East, Turkey & Africa, Mohammad Amin, was also very exited for this groundbreaking news. He expressed his congratulations to the university and added that they, “look forward to continuing to work with them (PNU) to advance the technical education of women in the region.”

This initiative, along many others that preceded it, follows the path of Vision 2030, which one its main goals is to increase the female presence in different industries across the kingdom.
