Trampolining, The Exercise Trend With A Wide-Ranging Appeal

As well as getting your heart rate pounding, trampolining gets those endorphins soaring, making it just what you need to rescue you from that workout rut.

It’s so much fun, but luckily there’s a lot more to trampolining, making it one of the top workout trends for 2018. An increasing number of trampoline parks are springing up (pun intended) everywhere, and whether it’s making it a family day out to one of them, joining a rebounder class or investing in a mini trampoline at home, it’s easy to see why bouncing for health has gained so much popularity.

One of the main reasons people are obsessing over fat-blasting trampolining sessions is the rate of calorie burning involved. You can scorch between 700 (twice the amount of jogging) to 1,000 calories an hour. The intense workout also conditions the whole body. Plus, trampolining is low impact and easy on your joints, but has the same heart pumping cardio advantages of a challenging run.

Other benefits of jumping your heart out include building core and upper and lower body strength and enhancing balance and coordination. Additionally, you gain improved muscular power, endurance, flexibility, spatial awareness and lung capacity.

Then, of course, there’s the fact jumping around with some stimulating music blaring in the background is much more fun than getting on that same old treadmill, making you want to do it again and again. By allowing you to play a little, trampolining is a fantastic way to shake off that stress. As well as reducing your perception of pain by interacting with receptors in your brain, the endorphins released during this kind of exercise trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to drugs like morphine and codeine.

Even NASA scientists have given the exercise success story the thumbs up. Their research found bouncing on a trampoline is 68 percent more effective than jogging and requires less effort. According to them, 10 minutes of bouncing on a trampoline is equivalent to 30 minutes of jogging.

Another great thing about trampolining is that it’s perfect for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. What’s more, there’s so much variety at clubs and online that incorporate different techniques and movements. So whether it’s Pilates, boxing, dance or boot camp that tickles your fancy, one thing’s for sure, trampolining makes for a thrilling and effective workout.
