Sheikha Fatima Announces "We Collaborate for Tomorrow" For Emirati Women's Day

Sheikha Fatima, known as the Mother of the Nation, declared the launch of the theme "We Collaborate for Tomorrow" on Monday, as Emirati Women's Day approaches this year. Celebrated annually on August 28th, this day serves as a platform to spotlight the accomplishments of numerous accomplished women within the UAE. The theme selection closely corresponds with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed's proclamation of 2023 as the "Year of Sustainability," accentuating the UAE's unwavering dedication to devising inventive solutions to address sustainability challenges.

Sheikha Fatima, who holds the positions of chairwoman of the General Women's Union and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, emphasized the importance of this national occasion, stating, "Each year, we enthusiastically unveil an inspiring theme for Emirati Women's Day. This day underscores a set of objectives that harmonize with the country's strategy, recognizing and empowering women's pivotal role."

She further affirmed, "Gender equality has become an integral facet of the UAE's societal fabric. This underscores the value of collaboration between national and local authorities, civil society, and the private sector to amplify advancements in this sphere."

As the upcoming Cop28 slated for November 2023 approaches, the UAE is gearing up to confront the pressing challenges connected to climate change. Notably, prominent women will be at the forefront, constituting two-thirds of the management team and more than 50 percent of the administrative team, according to reports from the Wam news agency.

The previous year's Emirati Women's Day theme was "Inspiring Reality ... Sustainable Future."

Today, women in the UAE command a significant presence across various sectors. They constitute over half of the government workforce, surpassing 50 percent at all educational stages. Furthermore, they comprise more than one-third of the Cabinet members and an equal proportion of the Federal National Council.

As the UAE looks forward to celebrating Emirati Women's Day, the announced theme underscores the nation's commitment to collaboration, sustainability, and the ongoing advancement of women in all spheres of society.
