Saudi Arabia, UAE Top List Of Best Countries For Solo Female Travelers

The numbers and statistics are in ladies and gentlemen. Out of all the cities and countries in the world, Saudi Arabia and the UAE were ranked top for the best places for women to travel solo in terms of safety, equality, and things to do.

According to the report when female travelers were looking for trips in cities to book, they were prioritizing safety and gender equality. Especially with the boom of travel after COVID-19 and the rise of the digital nomads many women had the opportunity to just travel and have these solo trips. InsureMyTrip, an online travel insurance comparison website, evaluated 65 cities globally based on cost, safety, gender equality, and tourism quality.

Can you guess which city topped in Saudi Arabia? Medina of course. The experts from InsureMyTrip ranked Medina to be the safest city in the world. The overall safety score attributed was 9.29, with 9.3/10 for "absence of worry about attacks based on gender," and a score of 82.75 for "feeling safe walking alone at night."

The capital Riyadh reached the 24th place on the list, which is a huge jump from its previous rank at 60th in 2022. With all the efforts the government has been placing into increasing and diversifying its tourism sector, Riyadh also took the position of 23/65 for tourism quality.

Now let’s jump to the UAE, where Dubai snags first place on the list with 8.12/10 for overall safety. The Emirati city also had the highest score for "feeling safe walking alone at night," with a whopping 10/10 score. It’s tourism rating was 9.78 for "quality of things to do" and a 5-star ranking for "TikTok popularity”, surpassing the Big Apple.

The cities with the lowest safety scores were Johannesburg, South Africa with 0.55/10 and Kuala Lumpur with a 3.36/10. The French capital Paris took the 3rd lowest ranking with a holistic score of 3.6/10. As for equality, Russia, Indonesia, and Malaysia scored the lowest with 6.75/10, 7.31/10, and 7.56/10.
