The World’s Top Business Leaders To Gather in Saudi Arabia for the 2018 Future Investment Initiative (FII)

Under the Patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) has announced the second Future Investment Initiative (FII), which will take place from October 23 to 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

As explained on the Kingdom’s Center for International Communication website, the second edition of this landmark event will bring together renowned visionaries and industry leaders with the power to shape the future of global investment to discuss three broad themes:

  • Investing in Transformation: focusing on how the world’s top investors are creating new cities and transforming economies;
  • Technology as Opportunity: considering how technologies are enabling new economic opportunities through personalization and industrialization at scale; and
  • Advancing Human Potential: looking at a world where humans and machines work together to create safer, more productive and happier lives.

H.E. Yasir Al Rumayyan, Managing Director of PIF, commented: “After the success of the inaugural event, we are pleased to announce the 2018 edition of the Future Investment Initiative. The Public Investment Fund is developing into one of the world’s leading and most impactful sovereign wealth funds, and we look forward continuing to build strong strategic partnerships while also showcasing the opportunity for private sector participation as Saudi Arabia’s economy continues to expand and diversify.”

FII was launched in 2017 as an international platform for expert-led debate between investors, innovators, and governments, as well as economic leaders. The inaugural event saw over 3,800 participants from more than 90 countries, and resulted in future initiatives announced with industry giants such as Blackstone, SoftBank, Virgin Galactic, The Spaceship Company, and Virgin Orbit.

This year’s edition is part of Saudi Arabia’s networking efforts with the global investment community to discuss opportunities within the Kingdom and explore emerging industries that will shape the global economy over the coming decades.

FII is being organized in the context of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the nation’s ambitious blueprint that is already charting the path for the Kingdom to diversify its oil-dependent economy, create more job opportunities for the youth, empower its women at all levels, and expedite the process of modernization.
