Prada’s Abaya Inspired Collection Is Set To Support Qatar’s Creative Industry

Prada is the iconic label, helmed by Miuccia Prada, best known for its understated, timeless yet modern, minimalist yet noteworthy fashions, and unmatched detail and quality – and with these exact design sensibilities in mind, the Italian fashion house has announced an exclusive collection dedicated to the Middle East and inspired by the traditional abaya.

The exciting upcoming collection is also being created for a philanthropic cause, as 20% of the proceeds from it will go towards the Qatar Museums fund to support the country’s creative industry. There is also set to be a Prada installation for the Qatar Museums’ project that will be situated inside the Prada store at the Doha Place Vendome mall.

So what can we expect from Prada’s abaya inspired collection? Staying true to its brand signature, Prada is recreating abaya-like garments made from Re-Nylon Piuma, taffeta, or technical pongee- often seen throughout the luxury brand’s sporty ready-to-wear offerings. The color palette will range from black, blue, sand and laurel green and the garments will be accessorized by silk twill scarves featuring one of Prada’s most popular triangular prints, finished with a triangle brooch to pin the scarf in place.
