Mo Amer To Star in DC Comics’ “Black Adam”

Mohammed Amer is a Palestinian-American stand-up comedian, better known as Mo Amer, and has just landed a major role in a movie alongside some well-known Hollywood A-Listers. Amer will be starring in a new superhero movie, “Black Adam” by DC Comics, alongside the likes of Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, Noah Centineo, and Aldis Hodge.

The upcoming action-adventure genre film is part of the DC Comics franchise and is the sequel to 2019’s blockbuster, "Shazam!” which stars Black Adam and Shazam as enemies in the DC Universe. Though Mo Amer’s role in the film is yet to be revealed, he rose to more fame after he starred in the award winning TV sitcom, “Ramy,” in which he plays the main character’s Muslim cousin that owns a diner, and also has a Netflix special entitled, “Mo Amer: The Vagabond.”

Mohammed Amer won’t be the only actor in the cast with an Arab heritage as Marwan Kenzari, the Tunisian-Dutch actor who starred in Aladdin as the villain, Jafar, will also be starring in the film. Dwayne Johnson had originally announced his participation in the “Black Adam” film in 2019 on social media and captioned his post, “This role is unlike any other I’ve ever played in my career and I’m grateful to the bone we’ll all go on this journey together.”

“Black Adam” was up for release in December 2021 but COVID-19 restrictions delayed the production of the film, and the film should hopefully be out for release next summer.
