Reema Juffali Is Saudi Arabia’s First Ever Female Racer

Saudi Arabian women are forever making history, and their achievements have been highlighted 10 fold over the past couple of years as the kingdom takes major strides in making reforms to serve women in a positive way.

It has only been a year since the kingdom lifted its ban on women driving and we first saw them push the metal to the pedal in the summer of 2018.

Since then, there have been many Saudi women becoming the first women in the kingdom to do many things, and there is another one to take note of: Reema Juffali.

Juffali is a young female driver who is now the first Saudi woman to competitively race in KSA this month as she is set to be speeding around Diriyah Circuit in an electric racecar at the end of November.

She first made her racing debut in October 2018, and will now be competing on home ground, as a VIP, for the first time, during the inauguration of the international racing series - the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, in the official support race for the FIA Formula E Championship at UNESCO heritage site, Ad Diriyah.

In a statement, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal, told the Saudi Gazette, “The Diriyah Circuit has become the home of watershed moments for the Kingdom. We saw the first female drivers here last year, the first unsegregated concerts, and of course it was the first time that Formula E and the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy had raced in Saudi Arabia.”
