6 Most Unforgettable Moms in Movies

Being a mom is a tough job and moms really don’t get enough credit in movies. Most of the time, mothers are shoved off to the side, seen as intrusive figures or, in the case of some kid’s movies, killed off for the sake of their kids taking center stage. But not these moms. Here is About Her’s list of the best moms in movies.

1 of 6

Sarah Connor from Terminator 2: Judgement Day
She may have been locked away from her son for her a great deal of time, but, hey, she was trying to warn us about killer robots from the future. And when her son comes to rescue her with the Terminator that was once trying to kill her, she quickly rises to take a shotgun and defend her son’s future. Any mom that can help their children defend themselves from murderous robots is cool by me.

Molly Weasley from the Harry Potter series
Mother of Ron and his two brothers, Molly is such a supportive and warm mother that even Harry considers her more of a motherly figure than his own aunt that raises him. She always has a warm meal ready, a comfy bed for any guests and is committed enough to defending her kids in times of great danger. She even gets in one of the best kills of the final Potter movie when she attacks Bellatrix for daring to harm her sons.

Marge Gunderson from Fargo
Marge may only be an expectant mother in Fargo, but you just know she’ll make a great mom. She’s such a sweet cop that does her best to be reasonable with suspects, but still won’t hesitate to fire her gun if need be. Marge has a remarkable ability to always look chipper even when she’s trying to be serious.

The Bride from Kill Bill
The Bride spends nearly the entire two-part saga of Kill Bill slaughtering those that tried to kill her on the day of her wedding, but her motherly instincts kick in when she discovers the baby she thought she lost is still alive. They bond almost instantly and form a cute bond over bedtime stories and watching Shogun Assassin. Rather cute for a movie so violent.

Helen Parr from The Incredibles
Also known as Elastic-Girl, Helen Parr is the glue of the Incredible superhero family, able to stretch her limbs and contort her body into any shape. Not only is she a top-notch hero with her keen abilities of infiltration, but also a devoted protector of her kids with everything from family squabbles to incoming missiles.

Peg from Edward Scissorhands
Not only is Peg one of the sweetest moms of her suburban neighborhood, but also a benevolent person that will shelter anyone who needs help. When she first meets the titular Edward, with his hands made of scissors, she doesn’t flee in terror, but offers him a place to stay. She can see goodness in others and, sure enough, Edward has a place in their neighborhood.
