Nicole Kidman Hits Milestone with 50th Birthday

Happy Birthday, Nicole Kidman! Check out how the Oscar winner, who turns 50 today, is going to celebrate.

The birthday wishes must be pouring in for actress and producer Nicole Kidman, who is turning the big 5-0 today. The strawberry blonde haired beauty recently revealed how she is celebrating the milestone on E! News as she was attending the premiere of her upcoming thriller, “The Beguiled.” “I want to hang with my divine husband and my kids and my sister,” Kidman said during one more of the ultra stylish red carpet moments she is known for. Kidman, one of Hollywood's top Australian imports, is married to Australian-American country musician Keith Urban, with whom she shares two daughters, Sunday, eight, and six-year-old Faith. The “Big Little Lies” actress also has Isabella, 24, and Connor, 22, from her former marriage to Tom Cruise. “That’s it for me,” Kidman added. “I don’t need any big parties; I just need my family around me. If I have my family around me I am happy.” The star, who was briefly engaged to rocker Lenny Kravitz, has already had a cosy celebration with her mum, close family and friends while she was in Sydney. She also revealed having some cake was at the top of her wishlist, and her favourite is coconut with 7-minute frosting.

The fact Kidman is keeping her big day festivities so low-key shows she remains modest, kind and more in love than ever with her husband, despite her superstardom and living in the spotlight for decades. While some celebrities have lavish parties with other Hollywood heavyweights, Kidman feels she gets enough attention attending numerous red carpet events. She recently pulled a hat-trick by attending three events in three days. She was in New York for the CFDA Awards, London for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards and Nashville for the CMT Music Awards to support Urban. With a schedule like that it isn’t a surprise Kidman sees having an ordinary day off as an amazing way to spend her birthday.

Kidman can certainly look back with pride at the work she’s done during her time in the public eye. She actually made history when she became the first Australian to win an Oscar for Best Actress in 2002. The 180cm-tall striker, who was born in Hawaii but grew up in Sydney, earned the Academy Award for her portrayal of tormented writer Virginia Woolf, a role that had her wearing a dowdy wig and prosthetic nose. “Rabbit Hole” was another big triumph for the celebrity.  Her performance as Becca rightfully earned her an Oscar nomination. Then, of course, there’s Kidman’s unforgettable portrayal of Satine, the crowd-pleasing nightclub chanteuse, and her part in Baz Luhrmann’s “Moulin Rouge!” also earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Other notable films include Birth” andThe Hours.
