During the 2019 International Women's Economic Forum (WEF), which was held recently in New Delhi, Dr. Marianne Amir Azer was elected to the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) as the "Woman of Contract" at the Academy in India, based on her outstanding academic career.
At the 25th edition of the forum, which was held from April 11th - 16th, Dr. Azer, who is a member of the House of Representatives, Chairperson of the Committee on Youth and Women, expressed her joy at being in a country with a rich history and civilization such as India, in the midst of successful and inspirational figures. She added that it was an honor for her to be a member of the Egyptian parliament and she felt that her role is to serve the people, quoting Mahatma Gandhi, who said, "The best way to find people is to lose them in the service of people."
About Her Background and Career
Dr. Azer, who is currently Assistant Professor and Director of the Information Center at the National Telecommunication Institute and Assistant Professor at Nile University, was the Assistant Minister of Communications for Strategic Initiatives before being appointed to the Egyptian parliament. She holds a master's degree and doctorate in Communications and Electronics Engineering and has published more than 70 papers to date. The MP has received numerous international and national awards, and has been selected as one of the top 10 lecturers in Egypt, by the British Embassy and the Academy of Scientific Research.

Dr. Azer has participated in scientific and developmental lectures all over the world, and has received awards, certificates, and grants from many international institutions. WEF is an international platform for empowering women leaders in all fields, and enhancing capacities and communication globally. At this year’s event, Dr. Azer witnessed a distinguished speech by Dr. Maya Morsi regarding the empowerment of Egyptian women, as well as words by world leaders, ministers, mayors, university presidents, professors, judges, ambassadors, diplomats, and business people from 120 countries.
